Composite Tube Cutting Machine Type 1003

Application

Cutting carbon fibre drive shaft to final length as part of the process of removal from the manufacturing mandrel.

Machine specification

  • PLC control
  • Cutting speed typically 25m/sec = 3750rpm.
  • Two cutting assemblies using electric servo-motors with speed feedback, giving constant blade speed and cutting conditions thus ensuring end squareness better then 50 micros and length tolerance better than 0.1mm.
  • A self-centring steady, pneumatically actuated, supports the tube being cut on axis while automatically compensating for drifting tube diameter.
